WHAT WE DO

ADRA-UK recognizes the dignity that is inherent in each person and is committed to improving the quality of human life. We serve people without regard to their ethnic, political, or religious association. Our aim is to help those in need, especially those most vulnerable such as women and children.

In order to achieve our vision of ending poverty ADRA-UK partners with agencies in over 25 countries. In addition to our international work we also through our Urban Ministries initiative support projects in the United Kingdom every year.

We are committed to our vision being the reality through the long term programmes we run whereby we empower the initial beneficiaries with the skills and knowledge to educate others and therefore start a sustainable chain of education that can be repeated and built upon.

ADRA-UK Livelihoods

LIVELIHOODS

ADRA-UK helps people produce better food for nutrition and for income generation. For example, Food-for-Work programmes promote projects that benefit whole communities – roads, schools, and community centres. In these projects, village workers receive food for wages.

HEALTH

ADRA-UK’s health projects concentrate on helping children reach age 5 – at which point they have a higher chance of living a full life.  We also help to provide clean drinking water to villages by developing wells, reservoirs, irrigation systems, sewage, and storm drainage.

EDUCATION

ADRA’s education activities range from classes for mothers to professional training for physicians and nurses. They emphasise training people to be self-sufficient for long-term personal and community improvement.

Adopt-a-Project

With ADRA-UK’s projects, families are healthier with clean water, medical access, and nutritious food; communities are more self-reliant; and women and children have brighter futures with protection and education. Why not as a church community support your very own ADRA project?

Virtual Gift Box

For the past twelve years ADRA-UK have run the Gift Box Appeal – delivering gifts to thousands of smiling children in 12 different countries. Making the appeal virtual enables us to help more children in countries we were unable to reach before!

THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal set of goals, targets and indicators that came into effect on January 1, 2016. UN member states are encouraged to use the SDGS to frame their agendas and political policies over the next 15 years to create a better, more sustainable future by permanently addressing issues such as world poverty, gender equality, and quality education for all.
